SANDUSKY — Kirk Halliday has appealed his firing as executive director of the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Erie and Ottawa counties.
The move had been expected. Halliday contends his termination was illegal and that there’s little evidence he did a poor job. The board contends there is plenty of evidence Halliday was a poor administrator in recent years.
Halliday’s notice of appeal of the board’s action was filed Monday in Erie County Common Pleas Court, said his attorney, Geoffrey Oglesby.
The next step will be to assemble a transcript of the board’s March 21 meeting, during which the board had a hearing on the matter and then voted to fire Halliday. A judge will be assigned to the case. Oglesby said his notice of appeal does not prevent him from also filing a lawsuit…
